I was a bit disappointed when I read – yes, I didn’t watch the livestream because once again it didn’t work properly – the price of the iPhone 5C. It is $599 dollar. I needed a moment to get that. I do not know why Apple thinks selling another iPhone for approximate the same amount is a good idea, when the “main” one costs only $100 more.
I thought of something between $400 and $500 dollars, in the area of the Samsung S3 and S4 mini but not almost as much as the Samsung Galaxy S4. This was everything but a good marketing move. It appears that Apple doesn’t want to lose his reputation of “Not everyone can buy one, so it is special”.
I would downplay, if I say the iPhone 5C is at least not a waste of plastic because it is. If I can afford an iPhone 5C, I probably can afford the 5S, so why even bothering to make a different series? And yes: You could also offer the iPod touch colors for the normal iPhone, that is also not a reason to make a new, own, series.
I had hoped for a (real) cheaper one and there were even evidence. They always send you Emails about “Back to school”, following -> You naturally would assume they really want to make a cheaper iPhone. In real life they don’t care. Go capitalism!
