(Thanks @elland for finding and sharing this with me)
I get the feeling Samsung wants us to believe that women are stupid. They started it on their keynote back in March throughout two hours and now they want to convince us once more with a new commercial for their new SSD hard drive.
They “interview” three people: A housewife, a student and an office worker, all dressed stereotypically. The two males know everything about the hard drive and use terminology. The housewife – of course – doesn’t even know what a SSD is.
My personal highlight is: “It’s so easy to use, look what I’ve done. I feel like an expert.” As she wants to point, she could have never done it without it and normally she absolutely know nothing about them.
According to the commercial, it’s as easy to use, that even a housewife can use it.
Let’s See If Samsung Can Top It
Maybe there are many housewives out there, that don’t know what an SSD is, but I’m pretty sure that most of the housewives are between 45 and 65 – as it was normal for becoming one at that time – and don’t use a computer, inferring they don’t need a faster hard drive. So no, they are not 30. With 30 you should know have learned a bit of how a computer works in high school.
Inferring, why did Samsung America include a female housewife, when they already know most of these stereotypical woman will buy it and these that know, will get upset? In which way is this a good marketing strategy. Maybe they just don’t know it better.
We will see if they can top it with their next commercial, you never know.
